BC Post-Secondary Information Benefits

One of the many benefits that BC's post-secondary system has to offer is that it is flexible in accommodating the diverse needs of students. This enables students to:

  • Change the post-secondary institution they are attending.
  • Change the focus of their studies.
  • Transfer from one program to another program.
  • Transfer from a college to a university.
  • Upgrade their skills to pursue further education.
  • Build on credentials they already have.

The British Columbia Council on Admission and Transfer (BCCAT) has produced a number of useful publications to assist educators, counsellors and post-secondary advisors. You will find publications on:

  • Transferring programs and courses.
  • The different kinds of transfer routes.
  • How a student can transfer from a college or a university.
  • The new Associate Degree requirements.
  • How to advise degree-bound ABE students.

All of these publications can be found at http://www.bccat.bc.ca/publications/menuadvisor.html.

The key resource maintained by BCCAT for students and those working at educational institutions is the BC Transfer Guide located at http://www.bctransferguide.ca. The guide provides complete information on transfer within BC's post-secondary system including a large database on course-to-course transfer arrangements.

Another very valuable resources is the document entitled British Columbia Transfer Tips. This short, easy-to-use guide is designed to help students understand important aspects of transferring credit within the BC Transfer System. The guide is available at http://www.bccat.bc.ca/tips/index.html.
