North Island College
Overview

North Island College serves a region of about 80,000 square kilometres, including Northern Vancouver Island and the mainland coast from Desolation Sound to Swindle Island. This region encompasses six school districts: Central Coast, Alberni, Comox Valley, Campbell River, Vancouver Island West and Vancouver Island North.
The college operates three major regional campuses: in Campbell River, Comox Valley and Port Alberni. Each regional campus administers several smaller learning centres situated throughout the college region. Students may access a broad range of learning opportunities, which include college preparatory, academic/university transfer, career, vocational and trades training programs.
General Admission Requirements (All Students)
Age Requirement - You must normally be at least 18 years old to attend North Island College. If under 18 years old, you may be admitted:
- if you have secondary school graduation and will turn 18 years old before the end of the first calendar year of your post-secondary studies; or
- by special request and discussion with an NIC counsellor.
English Language Requirement - You must have proficiency in English at a level suitable for your desired program.
BC Secondary School (or equivalent)
You must meet the admission requirements of your intended program.

BC Transfer Student
Transfer credit may be granted and used to meet program admission requirements or program requirements leading to a credential.
NIC will grant credit for formal learning gained at post-secondary institutions if the course objectives and material are equivalent to courses offered at NIC. Only credits, not grades, are transferred.
You must apply for transfer credit and provide official transcripts directly from, or in sealed envelopes, from the sending institution. The Application for Transfer Credit form may be found here.
Out-of-Province Transfer Student
